  • I like them the colour that they are.

I just want to say, I really like the design of your garden, the circle lawn/beds and pond is great.

    What length is your garden?
  • We painted our wall with a dark brownish similar to the the soil colour and it's called Rumpled Velvet. Looked absolutely stunning and not modern at all. Just created a flow of soil and fencing, and the plants were in the foreground.

  • @newprojectgarden thank you very much! Sadly I can't take the credit for it - it was suggested by @BenCotto as part of this thread - https://forum.gardenersworld.com/discussion/1060340/help-with-shape-of-my-lawn-garden/p1

People on this forum have been so helpful, I'd be lost without it! I hope to be able to return the favour when I'm more experienced  :)

At some point I'm considering getting rid of the lawn completely, as @carletonexotic suggested at the end of the thread, and having a winding path going through instead. Mainly because I want room for more shrubs to hide the fence and to have room for perennials and annuals in front of them, plus I never make any use of the lawn. From a wildlife perspective as long as I'm planting with wildlife friendly plants I think it should be ok.

As for length - excluding the decking it's about 20-21 metres I think. The decking is another two fence panels long. Hope that helps!
  • @Simone_in_Wiltshire that is a beautiful colour - I'm going to get a sample! Would love to see a pic of it on your fence if you have one! I've got a few Protek samples here ready to test over Christmas
  • @gilla.walmsley We asked B&Q to make a £6 sample and it was worth to spend all together £24 in 4 samples because the light on that fence changes over the day. I understood how much impact a darker wall colour can have. We agreed to the Rumbled Velvet colour. B&Q can mix that colour with all kinds of types (we needed masonry as it is a concrete wall).

Here you go: after painting it

  • It's a lovely colour @Simone_in_Wiltshire ! I didn't actually even know that Valspar did outdoor paint - so many there to choose from!
  • At B&Q, they have plain basic paint for all kind of ground, and Valspar provides the colour. We needed a 5l bucket and cost around £30.
