Planting a lonicera nitida hedge

    I copied the idea from something I saw at Gardeners' World Live. It was the year that Geoff Hamilton died, so 1996. Given year or so to raise the cuttings to planting size, that makes my tiny hedge about 25 years old!
    Doncaster, South Yorkshire. Soil type: sandy, well-drained

    I've recently planted a new hedge of B's Gold, grown from cuttings too @JennyJ, from a single specimen I had along the back fence.
    It's quite good if you want a slightly taller hedge. Some of the other varieties spread more than grow 'up'. I have a green one - Emerald something, which is like that, but still useful for awkward areas etc. They also root by layering, quite easily. 

    All of them need regular trimming here if you want a neat, formal hedge. It depends on your conditions.   :)
    It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....
