Dahlia help

  • @williambone you could try mixing a solution of 10% bleach and 90% water and dip the part that has mould on it in the solution.  Then lay the tuber on a piece of newspaper to dry.
Hi Ross, I tried that previously when the dahlia had more stem, unfortunately it didn't work and the mould came back, I've bought some of that sulphur powder so fingers crossed that works
  • @williambone I’m sorry it didn’t work. I hope the sulphur powder works. Let us know if it does it would be good to know for future reference.
  • Um, hope this is the right place to ask...anyway, I have dahlias all over my plot and usually leave them in the ground over winter(sandy, free draining). However, I want to dig them up and consolidate them in a dedicated bed - can I do this now and replant and leave over winter...or should I dig them up and store the tubers in my greenhouse.

Personally, I would do this in the winter when the shoots have started.
  • Do what? Dig them up and immediately replant? What do you mean by winter? Obviously, they are still flowering away but I really need to move a bunch of them so I can  transplant agapanthus and (after the awful shock of summer) my new 'waterwise' garden. They have been in the garden for years and are enormous tubers but I honestly hate doing the winter storage thing as space is also an issue in the greenhouse.

Thank you for responding, btw - don't mean to sound churlish.

Sorry, I mean leave them where they are and move them in spring. (A typo on my part).
