Pittisporum pruning

in Plants
I hard pruned my Pittisporum 'Limelight' earlier this year.
It resprouted in several places but with the hot weather,a blackfly infestation and a clematis growing over it the new shoots were limp and basically fell off.
There are now a few better looking shoots nearer the base and at about 1metre but I am wondering if I should cut back more of the top branches as I think they may not shoot again or leave till next year and see if there is any more growth.
The hope is that the shrub will grow back to its full height of 3 metres.

We find they don't respond well to very hard pruning. A decent trim is fine, and you sometimes need to do that several times per year, especially if like us you like them to be a neat shape.
They usually regenerate when cut back hard, but this can take longer than you would think. Unless you are unhappy with the size or shape you have at the moment, I would leave yours for at least another year (ideally longer), to allow yours to recover and get full foliage again.
