Time for an update. As you can imagine not much grew over winter in the PT and outside even less so! You need a really mild Winter for outside stuff and we just haven't had it. In the PT we had one very small crop of sprouting broccoli with another one ready to pick now:
The recent better weather (temps occasionally in the teens and 20s inside) have seen things start to pick up a lot:
It would be a good test to get some seed in now and then I can get a good comparison of how much earlier this crop will be when ready.
Oh nice, I'm jealous of that broccoli, I don't leave my pollytunnel up all winter as every winter we get hurricane force winds, and the three times I have tried it outside it's died.
The only things I have are parsnips that have just been dug up, before they start to run to seed.
@MikeOxgreen how great that you have all those growing in your polytunnel so early. We find it hard to get seeds to germinate and then plant out into our polytunnel before April and we are in the SW.

Yes I pulled the last of the carrots last week, still got some sprouts to do though. I specced the PT to withstand the high winds we get up here, I don't know if it would stand a Hurricane though! What about a sturdily built cold frame?
bertrand-mabel I sowed them last year You need to read my first post, it explains everything.
I've never harvested beetroot leaves before so had a go, they're not bad at all cooked or in a a salad.
Lettuce is ready:
This is the whole plot now:
Over the next few weeks the lettuce and beetroot will continue to be pulled for harvest as they reach the end. The PSB has serve us several portions, but the new florets seem to be a bit loose now and close to flowering so we have to harvest quickly. That will just leave the onions over the far side. They're starting to swell so it'll be interesting to see how they fair over Summer - whenever it gets here.
