Fascia Japonica Plant - Weird Jelly/sap? (Pics)

Hello, I was wondering if anyone had experience of what this is please?

I believe the plant is a Fascia? In summer it bled some jelly/sap from the base of the plant, this then turned black and formed a patch and hardened like tar.

Today I've found lots more jelly in 2 locations. The bigger patch is where the old location was, the smaller patch is the new one.

Any Ideas what this is? it has recently sprouted branches/ leaves towards the base of the plant this summer also.

Thank you

Thank you, How do I get rid?
  • Try researching ......Fatsia japonica sap.
Sorry no idea what causes it.

Quote...."The sticky and resinous sap of fatsia japonica can cause contact dermatitis, an allergic reaction causing inflammation of the skin, to people with sensitive skin."

    They are big shrubs.
I suspect it is not happy to be kept in such a tiny pot.
