Hi folks I have been given a load of dwarf iris reticulata bulbs. Would they be okay to put in the lawn now, do you think? Replies much appreciated. Thanks
They would be fine to plant, yes - but I wouldn't put them in a lawn. I doubt they'd do well there They need good drainage too, so bear that in mind when you do plant them up. A border or a pot is better. They tend to diminish over time for most people, so you'll not get so many in subsequent years.
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....
I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
After flowering they form tiny bulbils that are too small to flower. You could try some feed on the top of the pot or ground to try and bulk them up. They are all beautiful.
I have worked as a Gardener for 24 years. My latest garden is a new build garden on heavy clay.
I love them too @JennyJ, although I've not grown them for a few years. I have to admit though - that's one variety I wouldn't have in a gift - K. Hodgkin. I think the colour's vile
