Dwarf iris bulbs

Hi folks
I have been given a load of dwarf iris reticulata bulbs.  Would they be okay to put in the lawn now, do you think?  Replies much appreciated.  Thanks

They would be fine to plant, yes - but I wouldn't put them in a lawn. I doubt they'd do well there :)
They need good drainage too, so bear that in mind when you do plant them up. A border or a pot is better. They tend to diminish over time for most people, so you'll not get so many in subsequent years.

In pots they are lovely. They don’t reliably return in future years for most people in the UK

After flowering they form tiny bulbils that are too small to flower. You could try some feed on the top of the pot or ground to try and bulk them up. They are all beautiful.

Many thanks everyone for your replies.  I'll take your advice and put them in pots - instead of the lawn

They can be spectacular, particularly the first year. I like to see them a bit more spread out so I can see each individual flower.

I love them too @JennyJ, although I've not grown them for a few years.
    I have to admit though - that's one variety I wouldn't have in a gift - K. Hodgkin. I think the colour's vile  :D
