Planting out strawberries now?

Hi all,
I have 30x 2 year old strawberries in pots that I grew on from runners last year. Originally these were for my sister, but she doesn't have room now, and since I've just been allocated an allotment I was wondering if I could plant them out now? Not normally a recommended time to do it,  I know, but would they come to any harm? The plants are healthy and I am on the south coast. The other option would be just to leave them outside in pots over winter and plant in the spring.
thanks!

    They should be fine  :)
Strawbs are very very hardy, so it would only be a bit tricky if they were tiny little things, and the site had heavy, waterlogged clay just now.
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
  • I agree completely,  the soil is still warm the roots will grow,  and strawberries benefit from a period of cold to stimulate fruiting.

  • Thanks guys, I'll do it. Added bonus is it gives me something to do on the new patch as these will be the first plants going in!
