Is it too late to trim conifer and cherry laurel?

I missed the opportunity to do this in September, would it be too late to do it now with colder weather on the way? On the RHS site it says pruning should be done in spring and summer but I was always told to do it in September and a light skim during the summer. Also if you prune or trim during spring wouldn’t this encourage rapid regrowth?

@AdRock If you prune Cherry Laurel now it will start to form new shoots which are vunerable to frost. Hence the advice. However I would personally take the risk here as it it very tough, also any frost is likely to damage any growing tips anyway. In the spring it reshoots anyway.
Do you know the name of your conifer?
I have worked as a Gardener for 24 years. My latest garden is a new build garden on heavy clay.
