Hi@darrenhansen134 Can you remind us what your soil is like. Also can you give a rough idea of the size of the border. Do you want to include evergreens or shrubs for structure as this is where you would start. If it is just a flower border do you want to consider winter interest too. Grasses will give some winter structure and fill in with flowers. I started a new border in January, in spring I planted Cosmos Rubenza throughout it was a good way to fill the border year one until permanent plants grow.

I have worked as a Gardener for 24 years. My latest garden is a new build garden on heavy clay.

In my sunny border plants that did well are salvia "Black and blue", helenium "Short and Sassy, Liatris, geranium Rozanne, Alstromeria "Indian Summer", Campanula "Kent Bell" (needed staking), Dahlias, a purple geranium which may have been Anne Folkhard, rudbeckia and a dwarf Michaelmas daisy. I planted some Cosmos for extra colour in the gaps.

I planted mini daffodils, Minnow and Jet Fire, and tulips.

Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
