sweet pea seed collection

Hi, simple question, but I have been removing this years sweet peas and trying to collect the pods to shell for the peas, some are dark inside and some are green.
If I leave them to dry will the green ones go black ready to use next year or am I best throwing them on the compost heap?
Thanks
Les

They're best left to mature properly on the plant, but if they're darkening well, it can be fine to bring them inside to dry off. Some varieties are more forgiving than others too.  :)

I have the problem that, by the time pods are maturing well on the plants, they get annihilated by the weather, even when leaving some pods right from their initial flowering. I currently have that very problem with a nice one I grew this year- Roosterville.
Mainly because they don't start flowering here until much later - shorter growing season.  :)
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
