This plant has grown and now flowered in our polytunnel. It is on the side of the self seeded cucamleons and summer salad leaves. Any idea what the plant is? Many thanks as always.

  • So quick @punkdoc It certainly does look like it but the inside of the flower and stamens are a lot lighter, but then again plants do differ. How did it get into our polytunnel?

I think its seeds are a component of bird feed.

We have loads of them all over the veg garden this year … we also have Jimson weed (Datura stramonium) …  we get a few most years but this year more than ever have germinated. There must’ve been seeds in the soil from earlier years and this year the heat had caused even more of them to germinate.

I have these self seeded everywhere, the funniest one is in the GH it’s about 10’ tall.
It’s grown up to the roof and across to the other side.

  • Some seelings will also produce distinctly variegated leaves as most of mine growing and flowering now have done.  I find the flowers on these tend to be a slightly lighter blue .
