Is my fatsia japonica ok?

I’m really not sure if my fatsia  japonica is ok.He was planted this year in the garden next to my pond in and is now flowering. However his leaves are pointing upwards and slightly curly on the edges of the flowering branch. Some leaves are spotty and some yellowing.
he’s planted in a compost and topsoil mix in a deep corner next to the pond.hopefully someone has advice 🙂

Mine looks a bit like that at the moment.  I'm thinking that this is the result of the dry, hot summer and am hoping it will recover now that the rain and lower temperatures have returned.  They prefer a shady position to do well, so if yours gets too much sun, particularly afternoon sun, it may be wise to relocate it in the spring.  Also, being close to a wall could mean it is in a rain shadow and will need additional watering. Hope this helps and welcome to the forum!
    Wirral. Sandy, free draining soil.

  • Thank you 🙂 yes it’s a south facing walled garden. It gets full sun most of the day and could well be in a rain shadow. The soil does feel a little dry.
    Thanks for the help.
