@Fairygirl Good to hear from you! I have already pressed that button.
I have worked as a Gardener for 24 years. My latest garden is a new build garden on heavy clay.

    I was just taking a break @GardenerSuze.
Thank you for your comment, and yes- that button is often very useful  ;)
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...

I totally agree that home remedies are not the best idea, if people are happy to use weed killer that’s entirely their choice, I choose not to but have a small garden and enough time and energy to weed by hand. I just object to being told that because I have children and use a mobile phone I can’t make choices that I see as kinder to the environment.

Is this an example of "cancel culture"?  All opinions are important, even if you don't like them.

    Where is the button?

That would only be true if you were cultured, rather than a WUM.

  • People are circumnavigating this ban by pouring on their own home-made noxious solutions.
    Such as?
The ones mentioned in this thread.

That sounds unnecessarily personal and rude to me.

We all have culture, some different to others. Vive la différence.

  • We have tried the hand weeders and do not use herbicides at all, or any home remedies which can be equally or more damaging than what is on the shelves.  We used the Wolf brush on a stick for years, which works (and the wire brushes are replaceable) but is hard work and time-consuming.  More recently we bought a rechargeable, battery-powered block paving weeder from Ryobi (part of the One sytem) which is relatively quick and no effort at all to use.  It cannot tackle the deep-rooted weeds so they do regrow, but the frequency with which we do the path has increased so much now that it is quicker and easier so this is not really a problem and in the longer term I expect these perennials will be considerably weakened if not eliminated.
