  Cotinus do look good esp in flower and in Autumn as the leaves change.
  I noticed mine yesterday with the sun behind the leaves was stunning.
  
  Acers are well-known for their autumnnal display.
  I have several and each autumn the colours are different - sometimes yellows and golds, sometimes oranges and pinks.

  Many of the Viburnums have lovely autumn colour. 

  I have worked as a Gardener for 24 years. My latest garden is a new build garden on heavy clay.

  Hydrangea quercifolia at the moment. Lovely autumn colour and interesting leaves.
