Too late for this squash that wants to grow?

This squash type plant has randomly started to grow In The flower bed! Prob from the homemade compost I mulched beds with! Shall I just get rid or am I likely to be able to harvest anything this late in the year? Lots of male flowers forming on it

    Not a chance I'm afraid ... I had one similar to yours appear in the front garden a couple of months ago ... I left it just to see whether it was more melon than squash type of thing ... it's now providing us with entertainment while it attempts to exert domination over the front 'lawn' ... but it'll never fruit.  The winter will see it off.  

    Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.

    I have the same problem.  My squash plants have taken off - the summer being too hot for them.  They have decided to flower and there are small fruit on them the size of a plum.  I'll leave them but the elements will see them off.  We usually get a good frost in November down here.


    A good hoeing is worth two waterings.

    No chance!!  I've got a couple popped up as well, leaving them for my own amusement, knowing it's far too late for them to fruit.  Might be courgettes from last year's spent seed compost ..

    They grow very rapidly and make a great addition to the compost heap, even though it's too late for a crop.

    Many thanks @Dovefromabove @posy @borgadr and @tui34 very helpful . I’ve taken it out just to save nutrients to everything else around it x
