Hello just wondered if anyone know  what is thus weed .when came back from my holidays it suddenly appeared in my lawn never seen it before

    looks like it, the tree may have ben cut down, that often stimulates the suckers

     I got acer near by and another tree which I can't identify. Thank you guys I was worried its a japanese knot weed .

    No it’s not Japanese Knot Weed. It looks like suckers from roots of a tree in the prunus family, flowering cherry, plum, that sort of thing. 

    Keep mowing the lawn and cutting them short. Eventually they’ll give up … but it may take some years. Ignore them and you’ll be living in a ‘forest’. 

    If the tree has been felled you could paint some Brushwood killer on the suckers and leave it to take effect, but if the tree is still alive the chemical will affect it too.

    I will add my vote to the suckers list.  I would also agree with fruit tree.  It looks a bit like Sloe (whitethorn) suckers.  Do you have a nearby wild hedge?

    If you continue to mow it might eventually give up.  But it might just get more and more woody at surface level.  I would consider trying to dig it up.

    I will have a look but No I got huge field next to the house and near by neighbours I don't see any tree like that but I will have a look when I get home x 
    Yes I been mowing it as you can't pull it out it's so hard and unpossible to pull out .

    I got home and I checked my neibour got this hedge it look like this is it but she didn't cut it recently so God knows  how did it ended up on my lawn
