@McRazz I worked on a smaller scale to you but being paid hourly I still wanted to feel I had done some gardening and not spent all my time chatting about gardening. I visited my customers every few weeks so it was easier to talk and work if necessary. They knew me and it was easier to still speak to them even if my back was turned. Not so easy with someone you have just met. I have been stopped in the street with comments like 'you know that plant with blue flowers' then they struggle to add any more. I have felt like a hairdresser or car mechanic at times someone useful to know. I should add how important it is to share garden knowledge with others especially those you work for and people who are new to gardening. In the early days I was helped by and worked for some very good gardener's locally I have been very lucky in thast respect.
I have worked as a Gardener for 24 years. My latest garden is a new build garden on heavy clay.
