Foxglove Seedlings?

Surely these can’t all be seedlings? If so how do I deal with them? Will it just be survival of the fittest?

Think of a tall foxglove stem. Have you seen the number of seeds in each single seedpod?
When they get a bit bigger you can move some somewhere else if you want to :)

Yes, there can be thousands and thousands. If you leave them all, some will naturally die off - they'll crowd each other out. Or you can thin them out if you like. If you want to move some, it's easier to move or pot up little clumps at this stage, then thin each clump down to one later if it doesn't happen naturally.

Leave them until the spring and then thin out and move some of the survivors.  Foxgloves are a good ground cover and weed suppressor.

  • I’ll leave most put take a clump or two and pot them just in case I disturb too much- I have alliums to go in that bed.
