Any Ideas what this is

Hi All can anyone identify this plant. I grew them from seed and planted them out but forgot to put a label on them. Doh
They are about 3ft tall and do not have any flowers on them. I thought they were Cosmos but they dont look anything like the other cosmos in my garden.
Any suggestions.

They look rather like African Marigold leaves.

  • Hi again Pete. Ive just taken a second look and on line. I have a horrible feeling you are right. But I know I grew them from seed and planted them out. I am certain they were Cosmos. But whatever they are they are coming out this weekend just in case.

Changed my mind. I think they are yellow Cosmos. It has different leaves from the fine pink or white cosmos.

Cosmos sulphureus. Can also be orange. Don't throw them out @Market Boy

    Yes - there's no rush.
No sign of flowers on them so make sure first

    update  -yes @Busy-Lizzie I think you're right.
It reminds me of one of the vast selection of weeds I' have down the end of the garden
I've pulled most of my cosmos out - a complete failure this year.
They got to about 6ft and really wide - still no sign of flowers then last week they all got rust. I had about 12 flowers out of 7 plants.

  • Busy Lizzie. You got it right. I remember now I planted some African Marigold seeds but had bad germination. So I planted what I had. That is what they are. Maybe I will give them a reprieve. If anything comes of them I  will re post.
Thanks one and all for your help

It's a bit late in the year for them to flower now.

  • @Market Boy I had once grown from seeds something and was wondering why one of the stems looked strange. Dovefromabove said "take it out asap" and I did it.
If something makes me suspicious or I have a bad feeling, I get rid of it.
