Whilst on the subject of Munstead Wood, this is my unruly specimen currently. I am thinking of moving this from the pot and planting in the ground within the next month. I believe some folks here may have moved MW from pots into the ground and some, vice versa, from the ground into a pot. Any opinions on where does MW generally do better?
Munstead Wood arrived from Windlestone Nurseries. I was hunting in the box for the roses! Has anyone ever had a rose arrive so cut back? At least it is grafted... hopefully it'll bounce back. 😟
And here is the other which I was going to give to a friend but you can't really give away a rose looking like this!
Think I've been had. Hope yours is better, @Woodgreen. do I cut off that yellow diseased-looking cane altogether?
@WhereAreMySecateurs Yes, I would, that cane is dying back anyway so best removed.
My bulb planting is nearly complete. Really looking forward to Spring now. Crocus everywhere, muscari and narcissus beneath the espalier apple tree, anemones in the shaded border, some more narcissus for pots, iris reticulata dotted around. Some more patches of Allium purple sensation and sphaerocephalon too. Hopefully lots for our resident bees when they hatch out of the bee hotel!
Here's the muscari coming up. The big clump is where I transplanted some from the area we paved, then I've added more around - plus some primroses my Dad grew from seed (Mum's favourite plant as they remind her of her father so they're nice to have there)
There's narcissus Thalia, avalanche and bridal crown in here too. Hopefully that'll look pretty.
I've also got some snowdrops, which I know are best planted in the green, but this pack was in-effect free (3 for 2 offer on bulbs) so I've put them 3 to a pot and just see if any come up.
I've also planted some iris reticulata (mixed) in this pot with Desdemona. They're all around the outer edge. I've also topped up the pot and mulched it before refitting my DIY bamboo cat shield (it works!)
I hope she does better next year. I don't know if it was the heat or the cat digging but she's been rubbish midsummer onwards. Not grown at all.
Lady of the Lake has really perked up, will have some growth I can tie in to the wall. I accidentally snapped a bit off testing it out, must be more careful next time.
Couple of quick pics from me. Stressful few weeks at work, but fair few still out. Very wet here, besieged by blackspot everywhere too. Bonus pupdate for you at the bottom. Hes full of fun and such a snuggler. Los; Brother cadfael; Harry wheatcroft Designer sunset Belle du jour Los,covered still! Oddessy
I'm hoping for the same from Desi @Mr. Vine Eye Mine is in it's 1st year, planted in the ground and following a small first flush in early to mid June, then stalled and has made no further growth but did produce a single additional bloom in August. I'm sure it will be fabulous for both of us next year
I forgot who has asked but I have Grafin Diana/Dark Desire/Royal Parfuma and it’s a 3 year old bush. Thorny, vigorous, healthy, grows tall each year, love the bronze colour stems, flower colour and strong scent. Agree with @newbie77 that flowers may not open at times (cold, continuous rain etc). Taken this summer. The last 2 pictures I have just taken to show the height and thorns

Look at her glorious foliage!
I've got longer to wait too.
Let's hope next spring we see some good growth.
Growth follows the knife?
I certainly hope it does.
