@John236 Twenty years ago I had never seen this growing in gardens. It has a fibrous root so tiny pieces can stay in the ground. With a moist soil and a large fork you can get under the root. I think I would remove as much as you can this Autumn and be ready to start again early spring, often weeds have set a second generation in the spring without gardener's realising it. Thought until recently it was a Potentilla it is infact an Oxalis. One thing I would not do is treat it with chemicals,glyphosate can be used but more and people would like to see it banned in the UK.
I have worked as a Gardener for 24 years. My latest garden is a new build garden on heavy clay.
