Mislabelled Agastache ID please

NollieNollie Posts: 7,529
I bought this as Black Adder to replace the ones I lost, but it most definitely is not! Nor is it Blue Boa (fatter spikes, veers toward mauve) or Beelicious Purple (pretty dull all-round) both of which I also have.

It’s a lovely, clear, pale lavender blue, no hint of pink, fresh light green but not yellow foliage. Despite being a mislabel, it’s been a stalwart of my summer border, survived ridiculous heatwaves and has kept to a compact 50-60cm. I would love to get more.

The closest match I can find on the suppliers website is Blue Fortune, but that is supposed to be much taller and they tend to grow even taller still here, so I’m stumped!

Any ideas please?

It looks like Blue Fortune to me. I've found them on sites to be 60cm - 100cm. Young plants aren't so tall, but I've never had Agastache that survive the winter.

Thanks @Busy-Lizzie, some do survive winter here, very cold and frosty but not as wet as the UK, usually.

Subject to any other suggestions, I think it must be Blue Fortune. I guess this year’s heat (over 40c regularly) has been tough on all plants and perhaps that’s kept it compact. Both Black Adder and Beelicious grew to twice the maximum height in one season for me and swamped everything in sight, so I was really hoping for a genuinely compact proper lavender one!

The only other variety it might be is Liquorice Blue. Blue Fortune is more readily available though.
Sometimes l think the height descriptions are a bit vague  :)

My own A. "Blue Fortune" has been freakishly small this year - maybe 15cm tall if not less. Too dry I presume.

Great, another one to check out, many thanks @AnniD. Yes, heights etc., are only a guide but still, a bit of a surprise when they shoot up to double or treble that 😆
