Strange yellow growth on lawn…

Hi everyone,

A few weeks back I noticed a couple of small patches of a strange yellow growth on my lawn - it seemed to just disappear entirely after a couple of days and then just the other day it came back, what on earth is it and should I be concerned?!

Picture attached.

Thank you for any replies!

Aidan.

It's a fascinatingly disgusting slime mould known by the ingratiating nickname of 'dog vomit' :#  https://www.ispotnature.org/communities/uk-and-ireland/view/observation/296255/-dog-vomit-slime-mould-mucilago-crustacea-
If you can keep your head, while those around you are losing theirs, you may not have grasped the seriousness of the situation.
  • Thank you - what a strange, strange thing…

I had all sorts of ideas about it, something buried underneath or aliens touching down… 😂😂

Thanks wild edges, I saw some of that on the grass in the woodlandy bit and thought it was Wee Uff so have been keeping a close eye on him.

I've had that on my lawn.  A quick kick and it's gone.

I also have had on a flat roof , and no doubt will have again, Star Jelly (Nostoc).  Now that is supposed to come from the stars.
