Are you planning to heat your greenhouse @Joyce Goldenlily , if not then uncover it, and remove as much leaf as you can. We are nearly finished this season, ( already finished outside) and will only get enough heat from the sun for about two weeks, if we are lucky. I have taken this off over the last two days Yes it's just tomato plant. And now the greenhouse looks like this, it's still a mess as not finished but stopped for a drink and saw your post.
No, I am not going to heat my greenhouse. I have been removing leaves for the last few weeks, as soon as the fruit set I began by removing half the length of the leaf stems, and more recently, removing the full leaf stems. My greenhouse looks very like yours, stems up to the ridge and over. The only difference is, where your unit is, I have 3 cucumbers, in pots, which are also up to the ridge and along. I do not have such a heavy crop as you because I was so late with my plants. Lost to being shrivelled by the sun early on when they were seedlings. I like to let my tomatoes ripen on the vines if possible as they never taste as good when ripened after being picked or stored until ripe. I delayed removing the tarpaulin as I was surprised at how hot it was inside the greenhouse up until the last few days.
The netting at the far end has had four cucumbers on it, an idea from Pete8, with the bench between them. They too have done really well this year with 74 cucumbers between them @Joyce Goldenlily
The cucumbers did well , the tomatoes have gone ballistic! I expected lower numbers with the heat ( and a late start due to ill health) @tui34 but from 12 plants three each of Roma, Golden sunrise, Sunchocola cherry, and Tigerella we have hit 1000 toms. Yes I do count them as I do a costing to produce account. Half have been made into soup/sauce, some to the neighbours. As long as I cover the costs of setting up, I'm happy.
