I grow Heuchera 'Plum Pudding' .... stays evergreen with me even in Scotland .... although it can be a bit tatty by the end of the winter. A quick tidy up early spring and it's soon looking lovely again. I grow it with Alchemilla erythropoda ... which works really well.
Do we think that full sun makes them come out in brighter colours? My H in shade are pretty muted in colours - browns and dark purples - though I know those varieties can be much more zingy.
They might look very vibrant just before they crisp up completely. Even my darkest heucheras have suffered in full sun this year, but it might have been the dry weather as well.
I like the pink panky got one waiting to go in. I find they don't like sun, even the dark leaved variety. My garden faces north, but because it's unoverlooked gets a lot of sun. They do much better in shade or part shade. I have lots, one is usually spectacular, can't remember the name, mid green leaves, foot tall pretty pink flowers.
