    Whereabouts are you?

Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.

Also - what does it look like just now and what do you want it to look like?
I'm guessing it's one of those lollipop standards, as that seems to be the common type available.  :)

It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
  • Hi yes it is a lollipop one which is really big now

It depends what you mean by 'big' and what you want to achieve.
I personally wouldn't trim just now, but as @Dovefromabove says, it also depends where you are re climate etc.

Not sure what your winters are like, but where I am - winter certainly isn't over, and trimming now could mean growth in a mild spell then being damaged by frost/ice.

Having said that, I don't grow these, and it would probably recover, especially if it's otherwise healthy, and established, and in the ground.  :)

  • Hi is it too early to trim my flamingo tree now in early feb as I’ve noticed small green buds appearing I live in hertfordshire and we are due frosts so if not when’s the best time
  • Sorry forgot to say it’s been in the ground for 7years when I planted it and it’s quite big I’d like it to be a bit smaller and neater
