    It looks like belladonna of the nightshade family.
    SW SCOTLAND but born in Derbyshire

  • It's likely black nightshade (solanum nigrum.)  Poisonous, but not lethal.

    Up to you.  It''s a wild flower, classed as a weed.

  • And they selfseed readily all
    over the place .. fine for a ‘wildlife garden’ if you have no vulnerable children playing unsupervised there.  Otherwise I’d remove them.

    No children but it was growing next to the kale. What do you think, should I discard the kale?

  • No it won’t affect the kale … plant toxins don’t transfer from one plant to another. But if it’s in a veg patch I’d get rid of it simply because it’s easier to work a veg patch if it doesn’t have weeds in it 😊

    I call it Deadly Nightshade.  Now wash your hands.
