Mushrooms in Lawn!

Hello,

I keep getting these mushrooms growing in my lawn, are these safe? i have a dog and i am concerned that they may be poisonous. How can i stop them growing? it has been ongoing all summer even in full sun areas!

  • I'm not sure what it was laid on! it is a new build and i believe it was farmers fields! when we move in it was just lumps of thick clay after we complained they agreed to pay for some landscaper to come who rotavate it and then put down layers of top soil before laying the turf. should mention this was Feb/March this year that the lawn was put down.
    Thanks for the advice!
  • Animals are generally far more sensible than humans so it's unlikely that your dog is in any danger.
You will likely have them sprouting every year until they are finally exhausted.  From a "nature" point of view, they are good for your garden but if you are worried, just do as you have done already and remove them whenever they appear. :)

Don't attempt to eat any without expert opinion.

Try continual raking to stop then from spreading spores.  If you get a "fairy ring" it will show forever.

  • It's difficult to tell from your photo, but some of the smaller ones in the middle might be 'happy' shrooms.
    Closer photos would help.
