@Simone_in_Wiltshire I am a big fan of anything quirky and original it gives a garden character. So much more interesting than a fence with a gravel board. I love your fence.
I have worked as a Gardener for 24 years. My latest garden is a new build garden on heavy clay.
Understood @GardenerSuze But I have to do something otherwise cats and foxes believe that they can now jump through all the holes and land in the plants underneath. Not only do I have a kind of compost for the green waste in the right corner, its purpose has always been to give cats and foxes a secure landing. Everything feels so exposed suddenly. During that awful drought summer, the lilac tree planted last year hasn't much grown.
@Simone_in_Wiltshire I am pleased you have found a solution. Over the years I have both loved and hated my garden for various reasons. It is even more difficult when changes occur that are out of your control. I am sure your new look will enable you to feel creative and your garden will move into a new phase!

Just to let you know that the delivery was on time and I put up the willow fence this morning. It’s not as dense as the website promises but each roll is really 3 meters long and it looks now like this.
The cable ties they sell are from the US and I’m glad to have used materials which were not made in China.
I’m really happy with the result as it looks much better than before. At the end of the row I used the end from an older reed cover and cut a hole for the cats and foxes. I was just sitting on my tree stump between the sunflowers and bug hotel when a fox jumped through the fence. He was as startled as I was and ran through the garden to neighbour’s garden 😳
Thank you very much for your ideas who helped a lot to make my mind up.
@Balgay.Hill Cats and foxes have always used the last, lower hole at the of the fence which is free and stable, and can be accessed as usually, as I saw with my own eyes 👀 What I may have to reconsider is that the willow fence is higher than the wall fence. The wall fence was used by birds to stop and see if the way to the water is free.

The willow is made in Europe/UK and made in the UK (so their website).

The black behind it works really well.
Personally, i would have made it cat and fox proof.
