Mullein.  It's biennial so next year should produce a very tall stem with yellow flowers

If you want to keep it I would dig it up and plant it at the back if the border,  they’re huge, the flower spike can be up to 7’ in height and very thick and heavy.

  • Thankyou Lyn, Much appreciated

Watch out for mullein moth caterpillars. They are black and yellow and can shred the leaves of verbascum.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
  • I shall do, Thanks

I let them grow wherever they will especially for the Mullein Moth Caterpillar,  the Moth is a good source of food for bats,  which we have plenty of in the loft.

  • @pincushion If you do decide to move it take care easy to damage the tap root.
