Flamingo Willow Salix 'Hakuro-nishiki'

I have a standard of this and it has broken just below the head will it back bud or is it lost

    I should think it's lost. The break is likely to have been at the graft and what you'll have left is the rootstock

    It depends where the break is.
    Your tree is actually 2 trees.
    The trunk is often a common willow and grafted to the top of that will be the colourful flamingo salix.
    The graft will appear as a knobbly bit somewhere toward the top of the main stem (trunk).
    If the break is below the graft, then you're left with an ordinary willow tree.
    If the break is above the graft, then it should grow back fine.
