Turf stack not preogressing

Hi all,

Had a turf stack covered for a year, can still see the grass all the way through it.

Other that adding water when the hosepipe ban is lifted, any suggestions?

Thanks

Joe

I'm afraid that never worked for me on our clay soil, stayed in solid lumps and didn't rot down at all.

Suggest adding lawn mowings and tipping washing up water etc. on it instead of down the sink?

Took two years for mine to break down to a nice loam. Forget for another year.

    Thanks for the suggestions.

Further problem is that I’ve dug a new bed, 2.4m x 2.4m and was planning to add the “loam” from the turf stack.  Freeing up the space for the turf I’ve just dug up.  Genius on paper 🙂

What if I move this stack to the newly dug bed, spread more thinly, and cover it there until March?

It would get more rain there, but I’ll have to hold off planting until then.

I did an open stack at the end of the garden a few years ago, that went well but it was riddled with the bindweed that’s down there, hence moving and covering it here.
