help with tlc for a house plant

A friend is wanting help with this house plant.  I said it would probably love a bigger pot and some food. The plant is very precious to her - an 18th birthday present from decades back.  She suggests it might be Pachira glabra. Should she prune back the big bare stick? Thoughts appreciated. (It doesn't live next to the radiator)

  • Nip it off as it doesn't look as if it will do anything.  Bit hard to guage the pot size but could benefit from re potting. some support and more even light if possible. Looks healthy otherwise  :)

Is it always kept in front of the radiator?
    In London. Keen but lazy.

It’s already been stated that it does not live by the radiator ! If it were me I’d repot it in a larger pot with new compost .It needs something to support its weight ,maybe one of those spiral jobs ,and that ‘ beak’ could be removed I’m sure .
