Just dug this up. What is it?!!

    Looks like the base of a tropical plant. Pot it up, keep just warm and only slightly damp and wait to see what emerges.

  • @rachelsophiaoakes your last photo looks very similar to a Cycad.  If it was planted in the ground in the UK, it would be unlikely to have survived without some help.  I've had mine -  grown from  a seed in the mid '80's -  and it is has travelled about with me in various parts of the UK and Europe.  In a large container, it stays outside all year round but needs suitable protection even here in coastal SW UK.  It has produced numerous "babies" over the years.
