Hill @raisingirl not mill. As in ... of beans. Qv Rick Blaine, Casablanca.
I do suspect that War Garden does not have a clue why this discussion has veered away from that strangest of challenges or, indeed, what most of the posts mean.
it is simple brits can't stay on topic
We have veered away from the topic because we are bored and not interested in the topic.
As you are so keen on competition and want to mix with like-minded people I suggest you find yourself a local horticultural group, attend their meetings where you will learn a huge amount of current local knowledge and you will also be able to exhibit the produce you have grown under competition rules. You might even win a red card and a few pence prize money. If you do well you might also win a trophy for the best exhibit or the most points in a class. If that does not appeal to you try joining a local historical group who are interested in the past. You might find some sympathy there.
Sorry @war garden 572 that we have not responded to your challenge in the way you would like. For myself I find it difficult enough just deciding what to put in my small vegetable patch each year and making sure I don't put the same thing in the same place each year (micro crop rotation!). I took one look at the old newspaper clippings and thought - can't get my head around that. Sorry.
Thank you for trying @wargarden572. It was good of you to set it up. As @didyw says, sometimes it's difficult trying to get your head around info such at that.
