What is wrong with my Rhododendron?

Good evening all. My Rhododendron Luteum is looking a bit poorly. There is a fuzz all over the leaves. Should I be concerned about this? It is a deciduous variety so should I just let the leaves fall off naturally or should I treat it? It's a young plant which was only planted in March this year.

Looks like powdery mildew, no specific treatment is needed, it is often due to shortage of water.
Are you sure it is R.luteum, as I am not sure it looks right to me?

It looks like mildew - which you can thank the weather for.
Many plants in my garden have it too now.

It's not a plant I have, but if the leaves drop then new leaves next year will be fine.
There's not much point in spraying it if the leaves will soon fall.

  • Great thanks. I'll let the leaves fall and hopefully all will be good next year.
