Arundo donax -invasive ?

My Arundo donax is bursting out of it pot, and i was thinking of dividing it and putting half in the ground. Has anyone done the same?. is it easy to control ?.  The soil is loamy, wet in winter and very dry in summer.I know it is considered invasive in some parts of the world, but don't know about the south of the UK

Mine is very reluctant to do much at all. I'm v frustrated with it.
    Devon.
  • In a drier soil it gradually spreads but if you then need to split it good luck it is a spade breaker.
I have worked as a Gardener for 24 years. My latest garden is a new build garden on heavy clay.
  • We have some in the garden. It hardly grew for many years and then decided it preferred growing on the other side of the fence into the orchard. It is now huge but where it is we aren't concerned.
