I have two climbing roses, both planted this year, i'm tying the rear stems to my trellis as desired but the front-growing ones, do they get pruned off? My guess would be to just remove the growth thats heading where i don't want it but being new to all this i'm not 100% :) The front one has grown about 4 feet in three…

I would personally try and keep all the canes on and not prune much or at all for the first two or three years. Let the plant settle in.
