    I have to admit, I've moved a lot of plants that are said to 'resent disturbance' - and mostly they are fine.
    "What is hateful to you, do not do to your neighbour". 
  • I think the stress should be on the word 'disturbance' .... if you can move them with enough of a rootball so as not to 'disturb' the tap root the plant will not mind too much.  If you disturb even the tip of the tap root the plant will suffer ... it may well recover, but is unlikely to do as well as it would have done without the disturbance.  

    Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.
