My little experiment. I'd like to get a telescope. I'd love to see the rings.

Stunning! You even got Brian Eno to compose a soundtrack for it :) Did you take that bottom photograph @Fire?

Thanks. Yes, just a basic bridge camera balanced on my knee.

This is a shot I took a few years ago with a 400mm lens from a dark place in Wales

There's a whole world of "proper lenses" - a frightening rabbit hole to contemplate - for taking pictures of planets and wildlife at a real distance and raptors. Bankruptcy beckons. 😱 I'm holding off for now.
A basic Bridge like the Canon Powershot SX60 (ten years old) does me well enough.

I assure you, it's entirely down to the camera. I just point and shoot. No skill involved.

Yeah, I've got the SX50 and have had good results with bird photography. And it's nice and light.

I bought my Canon 400 f4 lens at a time when I had more money than sense. Of course 'pro' lenses coupled to 20MP+ bodies are geared towards printed output which is so much more demanding.

My brother-in-law is an astronomy nut so I'm guessing he's taken some stunning shots with his dedicated gear.

We have some serious and dedicated photographers on this forum and it's all very inspiring. Dangerous ground, but inspiring. :D
