Which fertilizer for shrubs and perennials in Autumn?

Can anyone recommend which fertilizer I should use to feed perennials and shrubs to best prepare them for the winter?

    Nothing.
They are best fed in spring, when they start growing.

A good layer of organic matter is the best thing you can add around shrubs, and any bare areas, to improve the general health of the soil.
Otherwise - as said, nothing, as most are becoming dormant  :)

I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
  • For newly planted specimens, some bonemeal can be helpful to encourage root growth now while the soil's still warm.
  • I grab a couple of bags of well rotted manure every so often when i'm out and about. By Spring i have covered the whole garden.

Don’t feed now .They will put out shoots which will get damaged over winter .I just mulch with whatever I’ve got and feed in the spring which ,after all ,is the growing season

Don't use anything based on animal products if you have foxes. They will dig out your plants to get at it. I agree it's best to wait until spring
