Cotoneaster horizontalis - attracting flies

    We get a lot of flies on our plums and raspberries when they start to get over ripe, so it could be the berries on the plant, but that is obvious.. they will be sitting on the berries.
  • We have a huge Cotoneaster, and like the others have never seen flies, only bees. Whatever is attracting the flies will hopefully be temporary, and they will seek another food source fairly shortly.  I definitely wouldn't consider getting rid of the plant, it's great for birds and bees.
