Blackcurrant plant

Hi hope everyone is ok. I have a thornless blackcurrant plant which has grown nicely. No fruit this year but believe that can happen. The problem is now my leaves have gone a red colour. Any advice please. First year of growing this.

  • As far as I'm aware all blackcurrants are thornless. Do you mean a thornless blackberry? If so, it is not at all unusual for blackberry leaves to turn shades of orange or red as they begin to die back in the autumn and that is happening a bit earlier than usual this year because of the weather we have had.
Blackcurrant leaves usually turn yellowish before they drop. They flower and fruit on new wood, so need a year or two to get established first.
