Very old pigeon.

We have a wood pigeon visitor who is at least ten years old (I.D. from gammy leg), apparently they don't normally get past 3-5 years. I'm very glad to have helped her live so long, and hope she can get a few more years in!
Anyone else have special birds?

  • We have a regular pheasant who comes on the terrace with the ducks to tidy up the free gifts from the bird feeders. He knows us and is fairly unbothered by us being about. In the spring he brings his harem who are always more nervous. He didn't do so well this year, has spent most of the summer without tail feathers, but now has a spanking new set and looks quite dapper again. He and our lonely goose seem to quite often keep each other company :)

My OH has lasted 50+ years - God only knows how ;) Oh, sorry - you meant the feathered variety, didn't you :o

My cousins adopted a seagull in the 1980/1990s. It used to return to them every summer for a few years.

I had a collared dove a few years ago who waited at the church lychgate every day for me to cycle through .He would fly alongside of me all the way home .
It was only because I fed him when I got in ,all cupboard love ,but I gave him a name and thought of him as mine .
