Please help me ID a plant just by a description

had a plant that I really liked but have lost it this summer. Hence I don't have a photo, just a description to give. I would be so grateful to receive suggestions of what you think it might be. It is a perennial plant that flowers repeatedly throughout summer. It has feathery/fern like leaves that all come from a central base that are about 30cm long and 7cm wide fully grown. A head of approx 8 flowers are on a stalk approx 30cm long. The flowers are purple/pink and they are star like. From memory, I think the flowers are bicolour, with dark purple flecks to the centre.

I think your best bet is to get a good flower-garden book or plant catalogue such as Sarah Raven, or go online and just browse until you see something that fits the bill. It's so difficult without a picture.
