Lettuce disappeared.

My lettuce seedlings we’re doing fine. They were just showing the formation of true leaves. That was yesterday, today when I went and looked at them there was no sign of them, no slug trails or anything else on the soil. Any ideas anyone?
Thanks Bob H.

    Slugs don’t always leave trails.

Are the roots still in place or has the whole plant been removed?

Got mine too.  Birds and then the snail/slug crew moved in!!
A good hoeing is worth two waterings.

  • Maybe sparrows.
  • Thanks for all your replies. I wish it was birds. We only moved here about 18 months ago, and as a RSPB member  I had a variety of birds in my previous garden, but so far not a single bird here. I have seen pidgins out front but nothing yet out back. (Too many cats!!)

  • I read my post and I think the birds I mentioned could actually be pidgeons!
