Butternut squash: can I still eat these?

Hello! Does anyone know if the discolouration and milky white jelly stuff (middle one) makes these butternut squash unsafe to eat (roasted)  if I clean and skin them first? 

I’m guessing the brown is ok, but read milky white extrusion is bacterial?

    The only thing to do is cut it open andsee what it's like inside.   You may just need to remove some bits and then prep the rest as usual or it may be a total loss inside.

    They don't look particularly ripe from the pics but If you wipe them over with a clean, damp cloth,you should be able to see if the skin ( which should be hard if you intend to store them) has been damaged in any way.  If damage has occurred, cut into the damaged area to see how far it has gone into the flesh and discard those parts you are not happy with.
    I don't know if there are different varieties of Butternut these days but the usual colour would be an overall pale orange when fully ripe .

    Thanks both. Will cut open. Had to harvest them as they were getting more rotten in this wet weather.  Saw a YouTube video which suggested it was ok to eat them whist green so long as I do it within a week or so. Hope they still taste sweet once cooked!

    Thanks @philippasmith2! They were fine once skinned :) Flesh was yellowish - no orange. Not very sweet once roasted but fine when blended in with the roast onion garlic and pepper :)
