Have you noticed that the ivy is absolutely smothered in blossom this year?
Good news for whatever goes for it in the night.
In London. Keen but lazy.

It's a good plant because it flowers late, food for pollinators now and berries in January and February for the thrushes when there is little else around.
Based in Sussex, I garden to encourage as many birds to my garden as possible.

Glad the bees have something to replace the flowers lost in the heatwave

Ivy has to be a mature plant in order to flower. I have also noticed the berries on Cotoneaster and Pyracantha are also good.
I have worked as a Gardener for 24 years. My latest garden is a new build garden on heavy clay.

There is some old ivy next door in the electricity sub-station. Full of bees.

Mine is just about ready to flower. Lovely when it does. Loads of other flowering plants for the bees/wasps etc just now though.
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....
I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
