Thanks for that @chicky. Very helpful. I'm tempted by no 7 on that list (yours is no.8) cos' it can be a bit of a pain on our current Victure one having to constantly bring in the SD card to view images or to have to squat down on wet ground with reading glasses perched on the end of my nose to change settings or to turn on/off, so the WiFi connectivity to my mobile would be invaluable.

I play with plants and soil and sometimes it's successful

I saw a trail camera reviewed on youtube on a channel called "A shot of wildlife", "A camera trap that you can move! keen ranger pt ", rather expensive but solar powered, messages your phone when it is recording so you can see the footage live and you can even pan the camera remotely from your phone so that you don't miss any of the action. It looked like the bees knees if you were serious about filming wildlife.

I finally decided which trail cam to buy and have ordered this one from the Gardeners World reviews, see below. I ordered from Wex when I saw it had £30 off the price.
I'll report back when it's tried and tested.

In the Gardening Which review of wildlife cameras Browning took the top three spots. The Browning Strike Force HD Pro X (low glow) came out best.

I read the review for that one @BenCotto and it came down to that and the one that I decided on. Time will tell but at the moment I'm just curious about what might be out there, mainly at night. Plus I plan to take it on holiday where I usually rent a cottage in the middle of nowhere so it might be useful for that too.

Back to square one with the trail cam. First one had a problem with the battery compartment closing flap, it wouldn't close. Sent it back, replacement arrived a little while ago and a similar problem although I did manage to get it shut 4 times out of about 10 tries. Rang Wex, sending it back again. The only other trail cam they sell is Spypoint so my options aren't very good. Will probably end up having a refund.

    That's disappointing for you @Uff.
Third time lucky maybe or a refund and try another brand?

I won't try another Bushnell, I think I'll ask for a refund and reappraise the situation.

Bushnell are supposed to offer a good warranty and I hope so as mine is playing up too. The nighttime videos keep cutting short and day times ones are a funny colour if it's sunny. Now it doesn't seem to trigger much and the only shots I got over a month were me leaving and me coming back. It could be the batteries playing up in colder weather but it says they're 2/3rds full. I'm going to try better batteries and hope that's it. My old Bushnell has been solid for ten years and this camera seemed decent enough for the first six months. It's this one https://www.wexphotovideo.com/bushnell-prime-24mp-low-glow-trail-camera-1748687/
If you can keep your head, while those around you are losing theirs, you may not have grasped the seriousness of the situation.
  • @Uff It may be worth trying Wildlife and Countryside Services.  [email protected].  Based in Wales and seem very knowledgeable and helpful.  Price range from approx. £100 upwards
